A global banking group is expanding their Research and Strategy team here in Singapore with the hiring of a junior Strategist / Economist to assist in the coverage of AUD/NZD markets.
Initially under the guidance of Senior Economist/Strategist, it is expected this person will get up to speed pretty quickly.
The global Research and Strategy group provides a wide range of macro research and analysis as well as investment advisory services to aid clients in identifying opportunities in fixed income, foreign exchange, and commodity markets.
It also has a global-macro based investment advisory service that identifies discretionary trading strategies complemented with rules-based trading processes that maximize return and minimize portfolio volatility. With a focus on insightful communication, the research team makes regular presentations that help clients navigate a complex investment climate and take advantage of market opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and developing databases, shaping macro forecasts for Australia and New Zealand;
- Developing and promoting financial market data models;
- Assisting the Senior Strategist/Economist in shaping market calls and trading ideas, then presenting those views internally to the dealing room and to the global client base;
- Preparation of research for both internal employees as well as clients on relevant economic releases in both Australia and New Zealand and implications for respective Central Banks;
- Contribution to daily, weekly and monthly publications in conjunction with the Senior Strategist/Economist and without supervision in due course;
- Develop relationships with the media, including wire services (Bloomberg, Reuters, Dow Jones and AAP), print, TV and radio outlet to promote the bank;
Requirements:
- Ideally 12-24 months in a similar role
- Those with a Macro background preferred (Strategy can be taught) over those with a pure Strategy background
- Must have had exposure to NZD and AUD markets
