Position Description:
Morgan Stanley Co. LLC seeks Associate, Natural Resources Group, Investment Banking Division in New York, NY to provide financial advice to large-cap domestic and international corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, financings, restructurings, capital raises (equity and/or debt) and other financial products/services within the Natural Resources industry sector, comprising of oil and gas, metals, mining and chemicals companies. Participate in business development and relationship building with existing and new clients. Analyze and review financial statements and reports. Analyze companies' balance sheet, cash flow and profitability. Perform complex financial modeling and analysis using valuation techniques. Create client marketing presentations, including defining the scope and level of analysis and ensuring the quality of various deliverables. Draft offering memoranda and prospectus sales memoranda for sale assignments and capital raises. Perform quantitative valuation and analysis with respect to macroeconomics. Conduct industry and company-specific due diligence to advise on transactions. Assist in the preparation of fairness opinions. Create marketing materials and pitch books for client interaction and relationship building. Liaise with various external parties during different stages of the project to manage internal and external communication. Attend client meetings to present ideas and to manage execution process on live mandates. Responsible for directly managing the day to day execution of the projects by closely working with deal team members and supervising analysts (junior bankers) to produce all deliverables in a timely and accurate manner. Manage different work streams within as well as across projects and prioritize efforts to meet project deadlines. Actively participate in recruitment process by visiting college campuses scouting for talent, conducting interviews and providing recommendations to facilitate hiring decisions at the analyst- and associate-levels. Mentor analysts and junior/summer associates and provide performance feedback. Utilize tools and technologies such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Skills Required:
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Economics or related field and two (2) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, supporting business development and relationship building with existing and new clients, creating marketing materials and presentations for clients, creating financial models, and managing projects cross-functionally in the Natural Resources sector including oil and gas, and utilizing tools and technologies including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. One (1) year of experience must include investment banking experience on behalf of a global financial services institution, including providing financial advice to large-cap domestic and international corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, financings, and capital raises such as equity and debt for the Natural Resources sector; performing financial analysis using valuation techniques; analyzing and reviewing financial statements and reports; and analyzing companies' balance sheet, cash flow and profitability.
