Associate Network Engineer - Edge Network Support Job

Job Description: PURPOSE: The Residential Network Engineering group provides planning, design, implementation and operations support of all TWC East Region Optical, IP and other data networks. This position works as a member of the engineering staff primarily to perform work associated with supporting connectivity of devices to the transport network and configuration support for the High Speed Data platform. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Software configuration of CMTS devices IP Address management for all HSD services Coordinate and Support connection of Edge devices, managed by others, to Metro IP Network Work with Field Engineering to support: Adds, moves and changes (MAC) of edge devices 1st call trouble response and resolution of edge related issues Implementation of new HSD features and services Support of HSD field trials and new product launch Participate in On-Call Rotation to support network trouble resolution during non-business hours. Required to support disaster recovery/business continuity efforts as required. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Solid understanding of telecom and/or data network concepts and operation Experience in a telecom or data network support function is preferred Understanding of DOCSIS services is desirable. Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work in a professional, cooperative manner to successfully interact with members of cross-functional teams including sales engineering, network engineering, service delivery, construction, operations and finance. Proficient using PC, Internet and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Project and Visio. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent experience and education. Minimum of 2 years experience in technical or engineering position. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS AND FREQUENCY: Infrequent travel within the East Region WORKING CONDITIONS: Office and Equipment site environment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for long periods of time throughout the work day. Use of mouse, and reading on a computer continuously throughout the work day. Communicating by telephone frequently throughout the work day. Visually able to use a computer continuously throughout the work day. The employee must be able to drive and while driving must not pose a threat to the safety of others. Lifting and handling of equipment during installation/removal Installing/removing cabling within an equipment site as required to perform duties LEGAL/FINANCIAL REPSONSIBILITIES: Requires adherence to Time Warner Standards of Business Conduct.
