Associate, Portfolio Analytics (Portfolio Performance/Client Research/Data Analytics, Client Services)

Exemplary problem solving ability, solid data analytics skills and engaging personality (warm, friendly) are required for rigorous portfolio analytics positions. These positions require a strong desire to provide exceptional client service and are not suited for those that want very little interaction with others. These positions, although varied responsibilities, will work cohesively together to provide transparency to both internal clientele (investment execs) and external investors on such things as portfolio performance (will provide custom analysis), risk management within the portfolios, global market movements, etc.
Candidates with top tier 1 schooling and proven leadership skills sought.
Individuals chosen for these openings will have the opportunity to use their skills, experience and knowledge gained from the training program to perform varied analytical projects which could include performing global market, risk and research analytics to answer a client question, to analyzing large data sets that represent the institutional investors' portfolio performance to provide insight as to how their portfolio performed and why it performed that way (what happened in the markets).
Together these positions are responsible for providing exceptional transparency to global investors that are invested in multiple asset classes, markets and strategies.
All positions require solid quantitative skills (prefer backgrounds in math, financial or operations engineering, statistics, finance, economics, etc.), exceptional drive to service the clients excellently and proven problem solving ability; however, these are not "quant" positions.
Extensive markets, financial instrument, strategy, and risk management training is provided for all positions; however, these positions are not involved in the investment decision making process and do not sit on an investment team. These are rigorous problem solving positions that sit within a client servicing environment.
An ability to see the big picture in addition to an innovative and entrepreneurial mentality are required for success in these roles.
NOTE: Relocation assistance is available and other compensation considerations will be extended to the chosen candidates.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelors or Masters' degree from a top tier 1 university. Highly competitive GPA. **Please no PhD's.
- GMAT Quant of 50 or above. SAT Math scores of 700 or above (OR) ACT Math score of 31 or above highly preferred. (PLEASE ensure you include your scores in your cover letter, in your answers to the submission questions, or on your resume).
- Degrees from more quantitative programs preferred, but some background in finance preferred. Understanding of some financial instruments required.
- Ideal candidate backgrounds: candidates in roles where they are performing data analysis that will be used to answer a question/solve a problem. Examples: Analysts or associates from economic litigation consulting; forensic consulting; investment consultants; portfolio analysts, candidates from internal strategy teams within consumer finance, insurance, or other financial services organization, investment analysts from the investing arms of insurance companies; investment analysts from top buy side firms or banks.
- Max of 7 - 8 years "total" work experience in an analytically rigorous position where data was analyzed to provide insight/solve problems.
- MUST have a strong desire to work in a client servicing area where priorities can change quickly.
- Quick, logical decision maker with proven ability to solve ambiguous, complex problems.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required. (logic statements, pivot tables).
- Experience with SQL and VBA or other programming language preferred
- Must work extremely well under pressure and tight deadlines, and must be comfortable with ambiguity
- Prior experience performing client focused work or directly interfacing with clients highly preferred
