The MIB Division of RBS provides the full suite of financing products to the Group’s global client base, and represents an entrepreneurial and challenging environment in which to develop a career.
The main focus of the Portfolio Management business is the independent and pro-active credit stewardship of the GBM Portfolio. The business plays a key role in the management of the capital and balance sheet, both in terms of new business approvals and ongoing hedging and risk management strategies.
Portfolio Product Controller:
This role reports into the Head of Portfolio BUC, GFS Singapore. The role is responsible for controlling the assets within a Portfolio from a Finance perspective. This refers to taking responsibility for reporting PL and BS on the Portfolio and establishing a strong relationship with Operations to ensure the assets are correctly reflected in the GBM ledger. Whilst this role is predominantly production focused, there is a significant amount of change and ad-hoc work that is incorporated as a result of the future business strategies and change initiatives.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Provide Intra-month PL reporting and detailed PL analysis via Flash and monthly actuals reporting processes for all allocated Portfolio businesses under London control.
- Provide BS analysis and commentary for monthly reporting and analysis for all allocated Portfolio businesses under London control.
- Provide product control support to Non-core division in respect to NC Portfolio business supported
- Collaborate with other BUC teams, GRG and other central services to achieve effective economies of scale and efficient service to the business.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Portfolio Management, Operations and Middle Office teams in order to operate in an effective control framework.
- Provide transaction support covering balance sheet accounting, fee income recognition and capital implications for large transactions within EMEA Portfolio, in conjunction with the GBM Finance Technical Accounting team.
- Constantly challenge and look more standardised / automated solutions wherever possible. Redefine processes and manage the transition where appropriate.
- Support changing business strategies via a dynamic and flexible control environment.
- Support Finance System and Operating Model changes to develop an efficient and cost effective Product Control team.
- Management of own training objectives and career development.
Essential Experience:
- Good understanding of a global banking business and the financial markets in which they operate.
- Good understanding of GBM Finance systems.
- Professional accountancy qualification or appropriate experience.
- Strong data management skills and a competent Access/Excel user.
