Associate Vice President – Trade Solutions recruitment

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (“the Bank”) is a leading Australian provider of integrated financial services including retail, premium, business and institutional banking, funds management, superannuation, insurance, investment and share broking products and services and is one of the largest listed companies on the Australian Stock Exchange. In response to increasing demand from its clients and a strategic plan to grow its market share the Bank has embarked upon an expansion of its Trade Finance business. An important part of this strategy is the establishment of Trade Finance teams in several centres outside Australia including London.

The Bank offers a decentralised client service model positioning its Trade Solutions personnel in the same broad geographic location as its clients. Working with the Trade Sales Executive and Relationship Executives, the Trade Solutions team handles the individual transactions on behalf of a client, is responsible for the swift and accurate handling of deal flow, advising the client on any process improvements that can be made and delivering an all-round superior level of service.

The ideal candidate for this role has extensive experience in Trade documentation, preferably with exposure to commodity related transactions, and will be responsible for the following: -

• To process and monitor all types of export and import transactions for clients including but not limited to Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Standby letters of credit, trade related advances and other trade solutions for clients, as well as providing specialist technical advice on the various trade products to new and existing clients

• To develop close working relationships and understanding of our clients which will enable us to deliver trade solutions and advice that supports cross sell opportunities.

• To ensure services standards are maintained in line with the client expectations and the bank’s objective of being number one in customer service.

• To contribute to the design of, and to implement strategies that maximize profitability, improve client service, enhance cross-sell ratios, ensure client retention grow the market share of the trade client segment.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following: -

• A detailed working knowledge of all trade processes/UCP and related instruments/S.W.I.F.T and the ability to use this to contribute to improving client service flows.

• Proven experience in trade finance transaction processing: - Document checking under Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, issuance and advising of Letters of Credit, LC confirmations, Guarantees and Standby Letters of Credit as well as S.W.I.F.T inputs.

• An understanding of interactions and information flows, with internal and external clients during the life of their trade transaction.
