Associate / VP – Private Equity & M&A Advisory recruitment

With a strong reputation for advising across the mid-market private equity space, you will need to demonstrate a very strong understanding of private equity deals and the issues and opportunities such transactions face in these difficult economic times.  Our client has carved itself out a true niche and as such remains very busy with a strong pipeline of deals going into 2012.  This has been a very successful year for the business and things are looking somewhat stronger than this time last year.  As such, it is a highly opportune moment to be looking at team growth.  Our client offers expertise across a range of areas including public and private mergers acquisitions, capital-raisings (equity and debt), restructurings and debt advisory.

Our client plans to interview heavily through January and if necessary, February too.  They are looking for people with a high level of UK MA and/or private equity related deal experience.  In terms of sector focus, this is a generalist role, but you may be a sector specialist at the moment.  You will have trained in the UK with leading corporate finance platforms.  If you are ACA qualified then it is essential you have spent a good amount of time in lead advisory, specifically.  Having had lots of exposure to and experience of entire processes rather than just one part of a deal is imperative.  You will have at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) from a top tier academic institution and all ‘A’ and ‘B’ grades at A-Level (or equivalent).

The current team is extremely outgoing and relationship focused.  Everyone has lots of responsibility and there is a relatively flat hierarchy.  Networking and building strong relationships is an extremely important part of their way of doing and generating business, and as such you must be highly personable, enthusiastic, charismatic and sharp.  Despite the current uncertainties in the market, our client is keen to make these hires as soon as possible so they can focus on the main business priorities.  The current team is highly accomplished with a high level of influential connections and experience across a number of sectors.  You need to be ready to step up in what is a highly entrepreneurial and ambitious environment.
