Associate, Whole Loans recruitment

Position Summary:

As a member of the Whole Loan Capital Strategy team, the Associate will be working closely with the Whole Loan Underwriting and Asset Management Teams on the analysis, development and execution of capital strategies that minimize the Fund’s cost of capital and optimize its investments’ performance.   In this role, the Associate will:

• Prepare and maintain financial model and valuation for whole loan investments

• Analyze impact of various strategic alternatives on Fund capital, liquidity and returns

• Present recommendations on alternatives to senior members of the Whole Loan team

• Assist team in creating and updating the business plan/thesis for managing investments

• Manage the analytical framework for whole loan monetization, determining which assets to sell vs. hold, recommending reserve prices and evaluating performance vs. expectations

• Evaluate alternatives to unlock value through balance sheet / securitization restructuring and/or new financing

• Monitor outstanding debt to ensure optimal capitalization and manage liquidity / margin call risk

• Prepare presentation materials for Fund senior management and investors

Education and Experience Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity or other finance-related field

• Strong Excel skills

• Advanced understanding of cost of capital and its impact on investment returns

• Understanding of financial statements and accounting

• Experience in identifying and evaluating financial risks

• CFA and/or MBA a plus

• Exposure to financial institutions, residential mortgages and/or structured finance a plus
