Associate/AVP, Product Services Analyst, Reference Data recruitment

Department overview:

Markit Reference Data is a growing product within Markit’s Fixed Income department. The Bond Reference Data product services internal clients and is focused on developing a suite of Reference Data offerings for the broader marketplace.

Position summary

The successful candidate will form a key part of the Reference Data team responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of Markit’s bonds products and services as well as supporting the questions and requests of our internal and external clients. Working closely with other functions within the wider Fixed Income team – product management, business analysis, technology and testing – the role also includes enhancing the Bond Reference Data product offering. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in New York, London, and Delhi.


Duties accountabilities

•  Operational maintenance of Markit’s Bond Reference Data product

•  Initiate data quality improvement projects

•  Identification of opportunities to enhance operational efficiency

•  Client support for bond reference data

•  Technical support for clients and other internal teams

•  Data analysis

•  User acceptance testing for new or enhanced product functionality


Business competencies
Education and experience

•  Graduate degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance or Business preferred

•  Knowledge of Excel/VBA/SQL is required

•  Proven track record of relevant experience

Commercial awareness

•  Must have general interest in financial markets, and be keen to expand knowledge

•  Knowledge of corporate bonds is absolutely necessary.

•  Knowledge and working experience on debt securities is highly desirable

•  Experience in Fixed-rate bonds, Exchangeable bonds, LPN, Floater, Convertible, Warrant, ABS, MBS, CP, CD, ZCP, SUKUK

•  Working knowledge of 3rd party data vendors and feeds e.g. (but not limited to) Xtrakter, WM as well as Supplier Management and Feed mapping

•  Should have proven skills to have worked with Developers, BAs and Product to define PRS and PFS.

•  Knowledge of Bloomberg, ThomsonReuters, NIM, Eikon desirable.

•  Knowledge about bond/entity level corporate actions e.g. Merger / De-merger, Stock Splits, Merger Splits, Coupon Resets etc.
