We are presently seeking an experienced candidate for an Associate position in the Structured Finance US Mortgages unit. The position entails leveraging data management best practice to improve the sophistication of SP's analytical data capabilities in areas such as new issuance, surveillance, quantitative analysis, product development and risk management. In this role, the individual will help support and deliver on the SP Ratings business objectives around Information Data Assurance and Quality. They will be working in cross collaborative setting to make data and information efficiently available for analytical activities and for new products and services, and work closely with IT to build and maintain critical database systems utilizing SP-wide technology and architecture standards. Additional duties may include supporting research, criteria or other analytical activities.

Ideal candidates will have experience with commercial real estate valuation and fixed income. Successful candidates need to be well rounded, possessing the strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills needed to support the ratings process. Successful candidate should also possess strong Excel skills, time management capabilities, and can understand and communicate business requirements.

Essential Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Work with the heads of the business units and other project stakeholders to define data quality requirements; understand their data reporting issues and partner with them to achieve higher data quality and enhanced efficiency.
• Deliver tactical and strategic recommendations for the execution of necessary data activities with a concentrated focus on compliance and enterprise-wide acceptable solutions.
• Assess and map processes and provide/implement recommendations to improve data quality.
• Recommend solutions and procedures to the business to achieve high quality data and take into consideration other systems/software utilized for other purposes.
• Provide training on data quality tasks and strategies to data users. This may include assisting the development of the technical documentation used.
• Work with various functional units to analyze and document current business processes and determine areas for improvement (reliability and efficiency).
• Proficiency with Excel/Word; Previous exposure to databases and CMBS/RMBS analytic software (Trepp or INTEX) a plus
• Ability to analyze original, non-routine analytical problems in a timely and insightful manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capable of working effectively in a team-oriented, global, and multi-cultural environment.
• Establish measurement and monitoring of data on existing processes.
• Lead and project manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Train team members in process improvement methods.

Skills

Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:

• Bachelors Degree
• Five or more years experience in a data operations role, of which at least three years should be in financial data quality.
• SQL database knowledge (SQL queries)
• Advanced multi-tasking skills
• Advanced time management skills
• Ability to work on international team and manage offshore and outsource resources.
• Ability to work closely with project teams of 10+ individuals from different disciplines (IT, Project Management) across SP's businesses.
• Experience in a compliance or regulatory function is highly desirable
