ATT Lead eCommerce Technical Consultant
Working as a Lead eCommerce Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and integration of complex enterprise eCommerce and Portal application solutions for ATT's clients. Our solutions leverage common frameworks and modules such as IBM WebSphere Portal/Commerce, Oracle ATG, or Apache Wicket. These solutions are built on top of JEE-based application servers and typically integrate with enterprise databases and web services.
The Lead eCommerce Technical Consultant will interface directly with clients as well as internal technical and business staff for the purposes of design and planning, implementation, integration and support of client solutions. You will be responsible for leading and working with others to translate business needs into technical solutions, and define solutions through reasoned application of information technology. This consultant designs, implements, configures, tunes, documents and analyzes application architecture of new and existing complex eCommerce based systems. This role is also responsible for determining integrated software architecture solutions that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs of our clients and is expected to research and recommend hardware and software technology appropriately to meet production application requirements for clients.
Strong initiative and communication skills, as well as the ability to build trusted relationships with both clients and internal employees are keys to success; you must know how to mediate opposing viewpoints and negotiate equitable solutions to ensure successful and stable outcomes. You will use your practical skills and experience to design and architect solutions, and also to lead implementation teams through the full life cycle of application development and deployment.

- Presales calls with prospects
- Implementation and integration labor estimates
- Application design and architecture
- Application implementation and implementation team leadership
- Working with globally distributed development teams
- Application performance testing, recommendations and tuning
- Lead customer custom application deployment activities, integrating with ATT hosting, network, and security services as appropriate for the client solution
- Design, lead and perform application solutions throughout the client lifecycle
- Maintain a baseline of industry knowledge to advise on technical trends and techniques and creatively apply them to solution design and development
- Tier four technical escalation from operations for hosted clients.
- Periodically assess solution capacity and performance and present to client.
- Domestic travel may approach 25% of time.
Required Qualifications:
- Eight or more years related technical experience
- Four or more years of professional Java EE design and coding experience with an understanding of the full application stack and associated design principles.
- Strong understanding of the HTTP protocol, web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc., familiarity with the various browsers and Web servers, expert knowledge of widespread technology, protocols and standards such as HTML, NFS, RMI, SMTP, SNMP, SOAP, XML and JSON.
- Experience architecting, designing, implementing, and deploying of solutions that leverage one or more of the following:
- IBM eCommerce Solutions (Commerce v6/7, Portal v6/7, WAS, WCM)
- Oracle ATG Commerce
- Open source Java-based enterprise solutions
- SQL and logical database design
- Oracle or DB2
- LINUX/UNIX - expert knowledge in at least one *nix, such as Redhat Enterprise Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX
- Experience working with clients, Business Analysts, programmers and others in the capture and documentation of requirements, use cases, and user interface specifications.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Java 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 API and tool knowledge, certifications a plus, hands-on experience troubleshooting, tuning, load testing, profiling and analyzing production server-side applications a major plus.
- Ability to analyze code for design issues utilizing a deep understanding of how Java works.
- An ability to articulate and get buy in on proposed changes based on best practice design principles.
- Hands-on experience with E-Commerce platforms: ATG Commerce, Hybris, WebSphere Commerce, OFBiz, Magento
- Hands-on experience with one or more search platforms: Autonomy, Endeca, Google Search Appliance, Solr
- Working knowledge of enterprise networking (Firewalls, load balancers, WAF, etc)
- Strong scripting or programming language experience, one or more of JavaScript, Ant, Maven, bash, Python, Ruby, etc.
Desired Experience:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field
- Experience in designing, building or supporting large scale enterprise class solutions
- Enterprise wide deployment planning and support for mission critical applications
- Enterprise level application architecture, design, implementation, configuration, deployment, performance tuning and tweaking
- Development of technical documentation for custom applications and systems
- Takes initiative, quick learner and has desire to improve the quality and reliability of client solutions
