Audio Visual Design Engineer Job in New York 10003, New York US
Reporting to the Technology Director, Academic Technology/Information Technology, this individual will work closely with the AVP of Information Technology to provide product research, design, and engineering required to produce documentation needed for installation of audiovisual systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Research, planning, analysis, design, programming and review of audio visual projects
- Implementation and testing of audio, video and audio-visual systems as well as hardware and system control software
- Collaboration with architect, engineer, planning and technical staff
- Ensures that goals, objectives and timely project completions are met
- Collaborate with construction and low voltage partners in the development of standards and evaluate capital construction projects for conformance.
- Review and comment on schematic plans and specifications prepared by architects and consultants.
- Work with architects and other professionals to assess technology requirements and needs analysis.
- Provide product research, design, engineering, and cost estimates to produce proposals for installation of audiovisual systems.
- Create and assist on Scope of Work/Executive Summary.
- Generate Technical Drawings and Wiring Diagrams in AutoCAD
- Identify issues that will impact the project and schedule.
- Analyze technical problems and provide alternative solutions regarding audiovisual hardware, software, control systems, etc.
- Advise project managers and site technicians to ensure quality end-product installs consistent with design intent
- Support onsite project lead with infield issues throughout project.
- Perform project walkthroughs communicating and documenting system issues and performance.
- Support on technical training endeavors
- Help define A/V installation best practices and refine associated procedures, templates, tools, and documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contracted in the course of the project
- Prepare effective written materials for purposes of user and system documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably with major coursework in audiovisual systems engineering
- Four years’ experience in the analysis, design, integration, installation, programming and support of audiovisual systems hardware, software and technical infrastructure
- Knowledge of principles of audiovisual and low-voltage technologies design, development, engineering, integration, implementation, performance criteria and analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- A/V industry training and certifications
- Extensive working knowledge of Crestron and Extron controls systems
- Extensive experience with project management
- Experience with streaming technology
- Work experience in an educational environment
