Nemours is seeking a AUDIOLOGIST (START DATE AUGUST 2012) to join our team at the Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

Description
Provides comprehensive hearing evaluation, treatment and consultation independently to typical patients within a program and under the guidelines designated by departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Completes 75% of level I Audiological clinical competencies.
Expand knowledge of less common populations seen within the program through mentorship, educational opportunities etc.
* Demonstrating proficiency in the care of pediatrics, adolescents and adults for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
* Demonstrating proficiency in the care of neonates as required by assignment.
* Evaluates patients for hearing difficulties, impairments and makes appropriate recommendations to physicians, families, schools, and community agencies for follow-up care.
* Independently provides and coordinates age-appropriate treatment plans and treatment in routine patient care situations.
* Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy, JCAHO, and CARF standards.
* Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
* Consults with other services, families and outside agencies to recommend equipment, home or school modifications, transition of care etc.
* Participates in meeting goals of the department
* Assists in maintenance of department equipment.
* Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with the insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
* Investigates specialty areas within the audiology discipline.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Audiology or its equivalent from an ASHA accredited university
- Familiarity with assessment scales and instrument, techniques of assessment and intervention with pediatric populations.
- Clinical internship in pediatrics preferred
- Experience with physically and or mentally challenged populations preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Hold or be eligible for Florida State License to practice Audiology
- Within 12 months of initial employment hold Florida Hearing Aid Dispensing license
- Hold ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), or in process of
- completing Clinical Fellowship Year with goal of completing CCC-A within 10 – 12 months.
- CPR certification (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) within 6 months of hire.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (ASHA, Florida Speech and Hearing Assoc. etc), preferred.
