The opportunity
Group Internal Audit (GIA) plays a critical role in the governance of Swiss Re, providing independent assurance over key risks and controls to the Group's Board and executive management on a global basis. Working in the Department provides a unique opportunity to develop a wide understanding of key issues in Swiss Re, develop key contacts and visibility with senior management globally and provide commercial recommendations to improve Swiss Re's processes. GIA can provide a stepping stone into Swiss Re's global business and corporate functions, with a long established track record of placing staff into key business roles.
You will be constantly challenged to learn new areas of Swiss Re, to assess the effectiveness of the relevant processes, and to come up with workable solutions to any problems you may identify. Unlike most other jobs, you will get the opportunity to interact with many people throughout the Group on a daily basis, including senior executives, and travel to different locations. This allows you to form relationships that can help you develop your career, whether as an auditor or anywhere you may go in the Group. In addition, the skills you need to acquire or enhance as an auditor, such as speaking and writing in a clear and concise manner, the ability to analyze difficult circumstances, and the talent to negotiate effective solutions, are tools you will use your entire career.
As a member of Group Internal Audit (GIA) your main activity is to audit business functions, i.e. evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of business processes and internal control systems as well as ensuring compliance with governance and extant business rules and regulations. By identifying and mitigating current or evolving risks you add value to the business, and the Swiss Re Group. Through expertise in technical or functional area, you significantly contribute to the risk assessment and provide input in yearly planning.
For your area of key expertise and/or your region of responsibility you will develop and maintain ongoing relationships with business management under the direction of GIA management. You will also play a leading role in GIA's annual risk assessment process and in developing the annual Audit Plan, particularly in the region for which you are responsible. You will often be assigned as 'in charge' to individual audits, i.e. leading an audit with a team of two to three members for whom you will have management/coaching responsibility during the audit. Furthermore, you are expected to participate in GIA's initiatives and projects as appropriate. For your area of key expertise you will develop and maintain ongoing relationships with business management under the direction of GIA management. The role will include a significant amount of travel including global travel (up to 40%).
Your major audit responsibilities include:

Regional oversight responsibility in developing GIA's annual risk assessment and Audit Plan.
Represent your area and GIA on a regional basis, and develop maintain relationships with regional management.
Independently lead audits under area of responsibility
Agree the scope of assigned audits with Senior Audit Manager by performing in-depth analysis of the auditable unit.
Deliver the audit in accordance with GIA methodology and professional standards
Define the detailed objectives of the audit
Allocate, monitor and review the work of team members
When In Charge act as the primary contact for auditee management during execution and finalization of an audit
Discuss and negotiate (as necessary) the audit results with local management
When not acting as In Charge, support and direct the In Charge as required.
Draft audit report for review and approval by audit management.
Ensure appropriate distribution of draft audit report and assume responsibility for agreeing management's actions.
Identify development needs of the audit team members and provide feedback.
Issue / deliver final report reflecting business management responses
Ensure audit reports and exceptions are input into GRACE in a timely manner

About you

Education and experience

University degree in related field (preferred)
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of work experience in

audit or other assurance function.

CPA, CA, CIA or equivalent (preferred)

Stature and confidence to interact with Company personnel with the ability to demonstrate objectivity, integrity, independence and drive
Fluency in English; Willingness to travel internationally (up to 40%)
