Australian Tax Manager recruitment
A market leading provider of operational and technical services to the global investment and wealth management industry seeks an experienced senior Tax Manager to lead its Australian team. Reporting to the Head of Finance across Australasia this Sydney based role will be the key contact for clients and all third parties, including appropriate Stock Exchanges, Fund Managers, Tax Advisors and Taxation Authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of Australian custodial operations across local and global markets in which clients invest
- Successful delivery of all client obligations related to tax compliance
- Consult key client relationships on all taxation matter particularly focusing on how the proprietary system treats certain investment products
- Strategically manage all related taxation projects through from planning to delivery
- Provide oversight to direct reports
- Control and maintain tax based communications with the various internal stakeholders including but not limited to the Head of Operations, Global COO and Head of Delivery
- Identify key tax based issues and proactively implement solutions to manage and mitigate related client risks
- Understand all client reports and manage the impact of tax on the reports
- Coordinate the production of intra and year end tax reports for all Australian custodial clients
- Liaise with investment and product providers including Issuers, Fund Managers, Tax Advisors and appropriate Taxation Authorities
- Support and mentor the Senior Tax Analyst
Key Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA)
- Experience with a Big Four accountancy practice is essential
- Related tertiary degree - e.g. BComm and/or LLB
- Analytical and Solutions driven mindset
- Experience with managing and mentoring junior staff
- Expert knowledge of all taxation issues and in particular the treatment of investment products.
- A specialist knowledge of Capital Gains, Corporate Actions and International Tax is essential
