Auto Underwriter
Position Description
The Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and processing files with a moderate to large premium volume involving property/casualty, or personal policies. You will ensure that all files are handled promptly and efficiently through utilizing your strong communication and analytical skills. You will maintain a high level of customer service through daily interaction both internally and externally, while contributing to the development of superior relationships with our brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply standard rates, calculate premiums, and underwrite new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
- Assess and evaluate more complex risks and apply effective pricing and underwriting standards Liaison with brokers to verify information, explain and interpret coverage.
- Develop superior relationships with agents/brokers.
- Underwrites manually rated policies.
- Analyze broker portfolio's and provide input/recommendations
Qualifications
- 3-4 years underwriting experience
- Strong customer service, inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proven negotiation, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Excellent computer literacy and keyboarding skills
- CIP designation preferred
