Automation Specialist

Job Summary:  Responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, upgrading and documenting plant Rockwell PLC, HMI automation and data acquisition in an FDA-regulated environment.

·         Troubleshoot existing Allen-Bradley Logic 5000 PLC.

·         Provide training and prepare new programming related to PLC and HMI equipment.

·         Assist in automating projects

·         Insure GAMP compliance with all automation systems

·         Tune loops as necessary

·         Provide technical expertise and training to in-house and contracted technical staff.

·         Develop and test ladder logic, structured text and function sequence blocks with PLC code

·         Develop and test and implement SCADA/HMI systems

·         Troubleshoot HMI, SCADA, and PLC software and hardware issues.

·         Oversee development, implementation and maintenance of data collection systems including assisting users in getting easy access to data 

·         Serves as the resident expert for all PLC, HMI, automation and VFD related issues.

·         Responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance.

·         Develop and implement automation and control standards

·         Responds to emergency automation situations.

·         Work closely with the plant instrument technician in installation, troubleshooting, checkout, validation and start-up of new instrumentation

·         Develop automation architecture

·         Responsible for specifying, purchasing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining all VFDs in the Bethlehem Plant

·         Assist in preparation of PIDs for assigned projects

·         Develop URS, FRS, and other protocols and documents as required, including IQ, OQ, PQ protocols

·         Insure accurate completion of all validation documents such as IQ, OQ, PQ protocols.

·         Assist in representing Minrad during factory acceptance testing (FAT) of equipment to be supported, maintained or calibrated.

·         Design, develop and manage and complete instrument and automation projects as required

·         Insure FDA, cGMP compliance for all metrology and automation-related records.

·         Conduct other tasks as required.

 

Requirements: 

·         The incumbent must have a demonstrated proficiency in Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Logix PLC Hardware and Software and RSView Software.

·         Experience in Allen-Bradley OSI PI Historian and RS Batch strongly preferred.

·         Background in instrumentation and controls in a chemical plant is highly desirable.

·         A minimum of five years Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 PLC and RSView HMI experience

·         A minimum of five years direct cGMP experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is highly desired.

·         The incumbent must have a demonstrated proficiency in Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Logix PLC Hardware and Software and RSView Software.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Desktop computer software; networking, Ethernet and communication protocols
