Avionics Product Quality Engineer Job in Lee Hall 23603, Virginia US

Responsibilities:

 

·       Lead and/or participate in providing guidance and mentoring for avionics product assurance, quality concepts and tools that emphasize error prevention and discrepancy correction as early in the product life cycle as possible (e.g. Key Product Characteristic definition, etc.).

·       Lead and/or provide guidance and mentoring to Production Quality Engineers with respect to new avionics product requirements, quality methods and techniques and compliance to company’s Quality Management System.

·       Lead and/or perform periodic audits of project development activities to ensure compliance with project design plans and applicable avionics engineering product development procedures.

·       Assist and support project design reviews, Peer Reviews and customer reviews throughout the project and product design activities.

·       Work with product/program/project managers to ensure development deliverables meets or exceeds customer requirements and expectations.

·       Insure adherence to quality standards and development processes such as AS9100.  Lead process improvement or development of new processes where required.

·       Technical contributor to engineering team providing significant input into avionics product plans, architectures, detail designs and design reviews

·       Provide liaison between engineering development team and Quality Assurance organization.

·       Collaborate with other cross functional teams in support of product lifecycle.

·       Maintain a positive, can-do attitude, and adapt well to a quickly changing environment.

·       Support FAA certification activities and coordination of SOI Audits with customers and FAA/EASA.

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelors or Advanced Degree in Engineering or related field with minimum of 7-10 years of avionics product quality assurance work experience.  DER or DER eligible a plus.

·       Experience in Avionic product development or similar environment where regulatory oversight is integral to development processes.

·       Knowledge of AS-9100/ISO-9001 and capable of writing processes and procedures.

·       Prior experience with DO-254 and DO-178b development processes.  Working knowledge of showing compliance to above standards.

·       Prior experience in supporting multidiscipline avionics product teams including software, electronics, and mechanical aspects of product development.

·       Excellent people skills with ability to work with technical staff and customers.

·       Strong organizational and time management skills

·       Strong problem solving, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills

·       Excellent verbal written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to internal and external organizations.
