AVP – Commodities and FX
Main function of the job
The Commodities Treasury team are responsible for managing the department’s funding, balance sheet and capital, which includes negotiating- and ensuring compliance with- the department’s limits, and optimising the department’s scarce resources. The role has significantly increased in profile in recent years, alongside the recent changes in regulation, together with the heighted industry focus on funding costs and return on equity.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Prepare forecasts for Funding, RWAs and Balance Sheet
- Negotiate Funding, RWAs and Balance Sheet Limits
- Ensure compliance with Funding, RWAs and Balance Sheet Limits
- Optimise Funding, RWAs and Balance Sheet
- Assist pricing new transactions, to ensure the costs of Funding, RWAs and Balance Sheet are correctly incorporated, and to ensure all Treasury-related risks are correctly understood and priced-in
- Manage day-to-day funding of the department, within pre-approved Asset-Liability-Mismatch limits
- Work with Product Control team to improve the department’s Management Information
- Assist with identifying and improving sub-standard CSA documentation
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes
- Communicate changes in regulations and/or policies across the department
Person Requirements:
Essential Qualifications
- Numerate Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Numerate Master’s degree
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a top-tier investment bank
- Exposure to Treasury-related topics (including Funding, Collateral, RWAs, Balance Sheet)
- Commodities experience
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent MS Office skills (especially in Excel and PowerPoint)
- Highly analytical
- Ability to work with, and analyse, large quantities of data
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent knowledge/understanding of financial markets
- Experience of working against tight short-term deadlines in a dynamic, pressurized environment

- Knowledge of Treasury-related topics (including Funding, Collateral, RWAs and Balance Sheet)
- Working knowledge of SQL Databases (e.g. writing queries)
- Working knowledge of OpenLink (e.g. writing queries)
