Our client is a top-tier commodities firm with significant presence in Asia and great culture and emphasis on talent building. This European leader is seeking to recruit high potential individuals to join its front office trading quant analytics team, based in Singapore.

Reporting to the Head of Analytics, you will be primarily responsible for providing analysis of the gas markets to the trading and origination teams. Research performed by the group provides commercial value by keeping traders, originators, and management informed of underlying fundamental and weather dynamics and associated risks that may affect their markets. Conceptualization, design, implementation and improvement of analytical tools and models to aid in the understanding of complex market dynamics in real time trading environment. Responsibility for the development of the China and India analytical models, including analysis of power gas, city gas, pricing and infrastructure. Challenging and validating modeling approaches via back-testing and conducting research studies of price dynamics in the real vs. modeled world. Researching fundamental supply demand drivers of market price dynamics in appropriate detail to provide a market view for the commercial teams. Fostering dialogue with front- and mid-office staff on the research outcomes, developing trading recommendations based on analysis. Implementing models and tools for the front office and internal team use. Managing relationships with Trading managers to ensure business requirements are being met. Performing ad hoc research projects requested by senior management. Providing ad hoc support for structuring, origination, and trading activities as required.

Undergraduate degree required; MBA or Masters degree in quantitative discipline preferred.
The post holder should possess a strong understanding of gas power markets, have strong quantitative modeling skills, and be fluent in the application of statistical methods to energy markets. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment. In-depth understanding of analytical tools generally utilized in analysis of the natural gas and power markets including econometric estimation.
Highly skilled in statistical analysis. Commercial focus and reputation for commercial delivery.
