Job Description
 

This role liaises and works very closely with the CRES teams in the APAC region, heads of specialist functions and their managers (Critical Engineering Systems (CES) and Corporate Security) and other Shared Services Finance controllers.

Duties

The specific, prime responsibilities and duties of the position are as follows:

• Financial Reporting, Analysis and Forecasting

  1. Review and analyse variances of monthly Centrally Planned Occupancy Costs (mainly Engineering, Utilities and Security Costs)
  2. Work with relevant cost controllers to address ad-hoc queries on Centrally Planned Occupancy Costs cost and its variances to budget for the relevant divisions. Analysis of variances into Price, Volume, Space or other categories is required.
  3. Work with CRES/CES/Security in preparation of monthly forecasting, including the preparation of Risk and Opportunities reporting with Divisional focus.
  4. Monthly updates of forecast and actual spend of Capital Expenditures. Review and analyse variances against budget and provide commentary on CAPEX reports.
  5. Coordinate with sub-region finance to ensure all material CES and Security accruals are made as at year end
  6. Provide cover for ad-hoc queries on Core and Non-Core CRES Direct Expense if required

• Budgets

  1. Prepare Centrally Planned Occupancy by Buildings, Direct Expenses and Capital budgets
  2. Budget tasks include preparation of data collection files, consolidation of budget and commentary for budget packs by working in close collaboration with the businesses and sub-regional finance team
  3. Handle occupancy budget queries

• Business Case Preparation

  1. Prepare the financial analysis to support real estate business initiatives
  2. Review, analyse and prepare financial models to assist business decision making e.g NPV

• Other Financial Matters

  1. Ensure the methodologies used for allocating Occupancy Costs are reasonable and in accordance with established policies and respond to queries with regards to methodologies used.
  2. Act as financial advisor to sub-region finance leads
  3. Review information required under FAS 143 (reinstatement cost provisions)

Overall Objectives

This position must ensure timely delivery of his/her duties outlined in this document to a high standard through efficient working practices and effective communication. The objective is to provide a premium service to all internal clients within both the support and front office divisions of the Bank.

Department Overview

CRES operates at a global level setting direction and strategy across the Business. The department has responsibility for all Credit Suisse Group Real Estate, General Services and Facilities and Construction functions including Critical Systems Engineering (global Mechanical and Electrical Engineering) as well as Internal Client Services (Travel, Corporate Events, Media Services, Library and Archiving), Global Corporate Security, Insurance, Information Management and Interactive Media across the global franchise.

CRES is a shared services support department within the Bank and works closely with all other shared services departments in order to provide a high quality of services and infrastructure to all the divisions/ departments within the Bank.

In addition to the shared services support departments, there are three main divisions within the Bank i.e. the Investment Banking division (including Equity, the Investment Banking and the Fixed Income Departments), the Private Banking division and the Asset Management division, all of which are run on a day-to-day basis with a Chief Operating Officer (COO) structure. The COO’s and the shared services department heads are the main points of contact for CRES in terms of decision making and project control/reporting for specific business related issues and projects within the Asia Pacific Region.
