AVP, Data Quality recruitment

Responsibilities

Objective:
This role will ensure that Metadata is collected and maintained to Moody's minimum required levels for production systems. Additionally, the incumbent will play a key role in coordinating, performing and enabling standard reporting on data quality for Moody's Corporation. The AVP, Data works closely with line of business personnel to ensure that data ownership and stewardship is of data and databases is clearly defined and that business terminology is clearly defined as well.

Functional Responsibilities: Specific Responsibilities for this role include:
- Collaborate with data quality technical staff, application development, and the Data Owners/Subject Matter Experts from the businesses.
- Maintaining the currency and accuracy of metadata, including looking for automated solutions to capture metadata and conducting periodic quality reviews of the metadata
- Facilitating metadata capture and update in the context of the overall software and system development lifecycle
- Analyze data quality reports as well as work with various data sources.
- Anticipate, uncover and determine root causes of data quality issues.
- Establish a data quality methodology documenting a repeatable set of processes for determining, investigating and resolving data quality issues, establishing an on-going process for maintaining quality data, and defining data quality audit procedures.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction (as applicable):
The AVP, Data Quality is expected to be an active participant in data quality projects from both a process and technology perspective. The AVP will work closely with his/her peers within the Data Quality organization and across Moody's Information Technology (MIT). May be required to manage Data Quality Analysts, and Business Analysts (if title is AVP, Manager, Data).

- Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate, and execute on details.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and participate in multiple, concurrent projects.
- Proficient in MS Projects and project management methodology.
- Capable of clearly articulating the need for, and the benefits of, data quality to IT and the business.
- Data modeling and data analysis experience required
- Must understand common database software capabilities and their impact on the physical data model (triggers, store procedures, indexes, views, etc.)
- Familiarity with the following toolsets is a plus: Sybase, SQL Server, IBM's Metadata Workbench and Business Glossary, IBM's IDA product, Erwin, Embarcadero's ER Studio

Qualifications
The qualifications listed below represent the minimum qualifications for the position:
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Eight years or more work experience working in systems and / data
- Must possess a strong background in metadata management and/or data quality profiling.
- Should have experience with data in the financial service industry; experience with handling of international data a plus.
- Experience with Data Quality software (InfoSphere, Informatica, Trillium, etc).
- SQL experience required. Previous data analysis experience required. Previous Financial Services experience strongly preferred.
- Data related certifications are desirable: FIA (Financial Information Associate), CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or certifications on specific databases (MS SQL, Oracle, Sybase, DB2).
