AVP, Loan Review Officer Job in El Monte, California Us

 

  1. Performs or assists in detailed loan file reviews of lending units portfolios.  The reviews evaluate loan credit quality and the unit’s effectiveness regarding Risk Identification, Policy Compliance, Analysis and Support for the Credit Decision, Loan Structure, Control and Monitoring and File Support.
  2. Factors contained in the analysis include areas as the level of problem loans, regulatory, industry and delinquency trends, conformance to risk rating guidelines, loan growth, and nature of the unit’s portfolio. 
  3. Performs or assists in Desktop Reviews of all loan approvals of $2 million or more and, on a sample basis, others below $2 million.  The focus of the Desk Review is to ensure general conformity to loan policy, practices and underwriting guidelines and to confirm the appropriateness of the assigned Risk Rating.
  4. Assists in the coordination of the quarterly Problem Loan Reports (PLR) meetings and ensures that PLRs are prepared by the account officers on each loan risk rated RR 5 – Special Mention of worse.  May be required to attend PLR meetings and help ensure that loans reviewed are appropriately risk rated.
  5. Assists in the performance of special projects and targeted reviews and in the development of monitoring procedures or analysis of the Bank’s loan portfolio to ensure that significant trends are identified and researched.
  6. Participates in efforts to enhance department and Bank procedures for loan review, processes, methodology, risk ratings, exceptions monitoring, portfolio analysis, management reporting and other areas as necessary.
  7. Works with personnel from other departments and external entities (i.e. KPMG, regulators, etc.) and provides training to others regarding loan review functions and methodology, risk ratings, and other matters as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

·         Education:    College degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or business related discipline preferred.

·         Experience:  Five to ten years commercial lending experience with at least three years of loan review experience as a bank examiner, with a consulting/accounting firm, or with a commercial bank.

·         Skills/Ability: In-depth knowledge of the various factors related to commercial lending products and a working knowledge of commercial and residential lending products.  Broad knowledge of regulatory requirements, economic factors, and standards applicable to commercial lending, commercial real estate, construction, and residential lending products.  Good risk analysis skills.  Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume work flow.  Good leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.  Experience using computer related software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, LotusNotes, etc.).
