Market Risk Engineering (MRE) Production delivers market risk reporting (VaR production and position reporting) across asset classes on a daily basis; to senior management, risk managers and to the desks.
MRE as part of GFRM (Global Financial Risk Management), also provides exposure monitoring, data analysis, Market Data validation.
This role is for the Market Risk reporting for the Traded Credit business
Main Function
- Line manage one MRE Analyst
- Produce daily risk reports that are sent to front office market risk managers, trading desks, senior management for traded credit business.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all daily risk reporting produced by NYK Traded Credit MRE team.
- Act as the first point of escalation for any daily production issues.
- Become a focal point for all NYK Traded Credit Market Risk related queries and processes.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with our main customers (Market Risk Managers).
- Coordinate with the Singapore and London Traded Credit MRE teams to ensure global risk reporting requirements are always met (e.g. by covering regional holidays or transferring risk reports).
- VaR production i.e. generating the VaR numbers on a daily basis and liaising with the Front office Market Risk team (who sit with the traders), to obtain signoffs on the daily VaR numbers, on a timely basis. This includes managing controls around the VaR generation and covers exceptions and limits monitoring.
- Own the controls (internal and regulatory) around all risk processes for Traded Credit
- Drive production process improvement by identifying, prioritising and/or undertaking system/process development.
- Managing relationships with other operations teams that are responsible for maintaining data (time series, ratings, issuer information, book information etc) and with IT teams who are responsible for sending the position and risk feeds to the position reporting system and to the VaR production system.
- Assist with project work focused on new reports, controls, processes and/or risk methodologies
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree
· Prior Risk management/reporting experience in credit (preferred), or rates or EM
· Prior VBA/ SQL experience - specially skills in order to build/improve/fix/query production tools used to meet the responsibilities of this role
Preferred Qualifications:
· Post Graduate or Professional Qualification in a numerate subject/finance/business degree
· Management experience desired
· Understanding of the credit products required, to be able to liaise effectively with the front-office risk managers
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Team player, ambitious, focused
· Self-motivated, takes ownership of responsibilities assigned to him/her and is able to guide more junior members of the team.
· Co-ordination, ability to work with various teams in the bank and get results
· Proven ability to deliver timely high quality work in a relatively unsupervised environment, while working under pressure; project management skills preferred
· Willing to question existing processes in a tactful manner
