AVP Product Control – Controls recruitment
The Position
- Assist in ongoing assessment of the existing financial operating environment, identify areas of potential control weakness and bring forth forward thinking ideas to create more robust control framework.
- Co-ordinate action plans to improve control processes; monitor progress toward remediation. This will involve working closely with various Product Control teams, as well as Financial Control, Operational Risk Management (ORM) , and others.
- Propose viable solutions to strengthen the control environment within Product Control and assist in implementing new solutions and efficiencies.
- Review and implement best practice policies within the product control functions.
- Specific Tasks will include :
- Manual Adjustments Reviews: Assist in monthly review of adjustments including PL and balance sheet substantiation with each PC area. Document adjustments of concern and escalate appropriately.
- Key Risk Indicators: Prepare / Consolidate KRI reports. Review and monitor KRI trends, and determine escalation points to highlight to management.
- Issues Tracking: Assess, monitor and track outstanding issues and action plans from audit reviews, control incidents, and other internal control reviews. Monitor progress toward resolving such issues.
- Site Reviews: Assist with the planning of site reviews. Conduct site control reviews, identify control gaps, escalate and report on findings to management. Track outstanding issues and action plans until completion.
- Risk and Control Assessments (RCA) / SOX: Partner with Product Controllers and ORM in annual RCA and SOX assessments, ensuring quality and consistency in the reviews.
- Control Pack: Assist in producing monthly PC control packages to highlight control/performance issues and solutions to management.
- Ad hoc control projects / targeted reviews
- Business Line Balance Sheet Review: Review, Coordinate, facilitate, and report on BLBS findings by working with PC controllers to substantiate the balance sheet on a monthly basis.
The Candidate
• 3-5 years Product Control experience (Strong Front to Back Control Experience)
• Strong understanding of investment bank’s end-to-end processes and controls.
• Sound product knowledge.
• Intermediate Excel / Word / PowerPoint skills
• Communication Skill - Control-focused. Able to interact successfully with different areas of the bank (PC, FC, Operations, ORM, Audit, etc) and senior management. Ability to learn fast and adapt to a growing business.
• Responsible attitude Sound time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
