AVP Product Controller (Equity Derivatives) recruitment

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Structured Equity Derivatives Product Control team is looking to recruit a high calibre individual at the ENO to AVP level to join the London group.

Individuals within the Line Production Product Control (PC) job family are responsible for executing the Daily, Monthly and Quarterly Production aspects of Product Control's primary role which is the financial guardianship of the Bank's sales and trading activities. They are responsible for ensuring complete, accurate and timely P+L and Balance Sheets

Key Deliverables

Line Production PC are also responsible for any aspects of inventory valuation and control not covered by dedicated Line Valuation Product Controllers. Line Production PC also provide input into the development and improvement of strategic systems and implementation and continuous improvement at a local level in terms of process and applications.
This role supports the Structured Index Trading Desk which covers a large variety of underlyings and complex transactions. The Product Controller will work closely with the desk, technology, Financial Accounting, Strategic Risk Management and other infrastructure areas to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the trading desks' results including daily PL reporting, management commentaries, and exception processing.
Key process managed by Line Production PC include:
• Daily P+L production, which includes Balance Sheet reconciliations,
• P+L Validation, analysis (including clean P+L), model appropriateness/compliance and commentary. This includes understanding and applying Sub Ledger Accounting processes in order to perform detailed analysis and reconciliations. This pertains to all PL activity such as, valuation of positions, cash balances, funding, provisions
• Monthly and quarterly production, which includes Account Ownership, Book Management, Legal Entity and Regulatory Reporting and Accounting Policy implementation
• Control reporting, which includes appropriate Escalation of issues, Audit Points, Control Improvement Points, Incident Reporting and regulatory reporting including SOX documentation.
• Providing analysis and information in response to ad hoc requests from various areas throughout the firm (e.g., Front Office, Financial Accounting, and Regulatory)
• Supporting Change and Continuous Improvement. Identify and escalate potential improvements in the processes and procedures in operation within the area. Support testing of new processes, applications and procedures
- Take a lead in the liaison with Front office Structuring Quantitative teams to resolve issues around trade economics, documentation and valuation.
- Take a lead in the liaison with Accounting Policy Line Product Control Regulatory teams regionally and globally to ensure the trade is correctly reported in the bank's books and records.
- Participate in the briefing of Product Control management on these key structures.
- Participate in the assessment of structures requiring Pre Trade Approval or New Business Approval
- Provide guidance and support to junior member of staff

Overall, this position gives good exposure to a leading structured derivatives franchise and develops the core skills required for further specialised roles in PC and other areas of the Bank.

TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST POSSESS:

Product Controllers must be highly attentive to risk and the importance of a strong control environment and show a high attention to detail in all aspects of their work. They must also possess highly developed analytic, interpersonal and communication skills to enable them to develop relationships with their key clients and to understand and address their issues.
They should have a solid understanding of derivatives products and an appreciation of the 'greeks'.
In addition, ideal candidates should have the following skills and experience
• Several years of financial service, banking or accounting experience including exposure to the aforementioned products
• Masters Graduate in numerical discipline and/or ACA qualified
• Team player, proactive, self starter, who can be dynamic and implement process changes
