Job Description
A vacancy exists for Release Manager within Global Wholesale Banking Technology and Operations (GWBTO) team based in Croydon. The successful candidate will focus on key release management procedures from project inception and drive the initiative forward to implementation to the warranty phase and service transition. They will also be asked to cover change and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain implementation plans for project and application support items within a release
- Engage relevant teams and lead projects through the release lifecycle, create and plan implementation plans and walkthroughs
- Influence developers / testers and other wider team members to ensure release standards are conformed to and where necessary fully auditable
- Influence developers/testers and other wider team members to ensure the needs of release management are considered and met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor status of testing, approvals, signoffs for releases to ensure everything is in place in ample time prior to implementation to ensure stability
- Co-ordinate releases out of hours when required
- Help projects in planning their upcoming release dates and mitigate against any potential conflicts with other projects
- Communicate with stakeholders on the status of the release and provide input into a weekly Release Deck
- Reporting future planned changes to business partners in Asia, US and EMEA
- Manage multiple conflicting business / technology priorities
- Process/Extend/Cancel test environment booking requests
- Check and resolve any potential environment conflicts and advise people concerned
- Assist the Change Manager when required this will include reviewing changes for quality and completeness and driving them through the change lifecycle
- Assisting with audit initiatives
- Become the change champion and providing training in the change process and tooling
- Participate in Change Advisory Board, reviewing, questioning, authorising changes looking at weekly and long term impact
- Support the Configuration Management Team
Requirements
Essential
- Knowledge of the Release Management and Change Management function within complex financial global institutions.
- Knowledge of ITIL
- Ability to work in a global company with offshore teams/team members
- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential; must be pro-active, enthusiastic, flexible, and results driven.
- Experience of creating implementation plans/release notes.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with various stakeholders e.g. business partners, project manager technical lead, developers and testing associates who may be based in various geographical locations and timeframes.
- Analysis of change activity.
- Work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changes in priorities.
- Strong oral and written communications
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desirable
- Ability to work with offshore colleagues.
- Experience of using software configuration management systems.
- ITIL qualified.
- Knowledge of IMS DB/DC, COBOL DB2, Unix environment and SWIFT messaging.
- Attendance of CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings representing various initiatives.
- Knowledge of SDLC / DMAIC
- Experience of collaboration tools (SharePoint, wiki platforms).
