AVP – Strategic Planning recruitment

Responsibilities
The Commercial Group in Moody's Investors Service (MIS) is responsible for assessing the strategic opportunities for the rating agency, and leading the long term strategic planning in conjunction with the senior managers of the MIS operating units. Working with the MCO Corporate Development Group, the Commercial Group will also evaluate potential investments, joint ventures, partnership opportunities and strategic alliances. The AVP strategic planning will report to the VP- MIS Global Strategic Planning and will help lead and support these activities.

The AVP strategic planning will be responsible for the following:
- Analyze external market data such as demand and product trends, industry dynamics, and competitor analysis.
- Analyze and assess internal data, such as customer segments, asset classes, and financial information on MIS performance and assets.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis of global and regional fixed income markets to assess external trends, and identify growth opportunities.
- Write business plans for global and or regional growth opportunities.
- Working with the senior Managers of MIS lead the assessment of MIS' competitive position in the various business segments and coordinate the formulation of strategic/tactical plans to respond or anticipate market developments.
- Work with Corporate Development to analyze potential strategic transactions for MIS.
- Contribute to the presentation of this analysis and resulting conclusions to senior management of MIS and MCO.
- Work on a variety of research and analysis projects that relate to the assessment of MIS competitive and market position, as well as focus on new product innovation.

Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have five years of experience in a corporate strategy or strategic consulting role.
- Demonstrated research and analysis skills, a good understanding of financial accounting, modeling and valuation techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong project management capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Power Point and Excel, is a must.
- Ideally the person will have had exposure to and a good understanding of the global capital markets.
- Knowledge of multiple disciplines, e.g., finance, accounting, economics, marketing, product development, etc. is a plus
- The position works in a matrix organization structure so the person needs to be a self starter, able to drive projects to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of people at various levels within the company.

Education requirements:
Master's degree, an MBA is preferred.
