JOB PURPOSE

RESPONSIBILITES

Advisory

· Provide compliance and regulatory advice on an ongoing basis, focusing on investment products including equities, derivatives, fixed income, mutual funds, alternative investments, foreign exchange, credit, deposits and trusts.

· Knowledge of Hong Kong and Singapore regulations and provide advice to business and support functions on existing and new regulations

· Review and advise Private Bank Accounts following the Global, Hong Kong and Singapore Customer Due Diligence Process.

· Provide advise on local laws and regulations and internal policies regarding anti-money laundering and customer due diligence

· Review and provide Compliance approval for new business initiatives, operational procedures and major operational and system changes

· Develop compliance policies and procedures

Training

· Provide training to Private Banking staff in Asia and promote compliance culture

Monitoring and Surveillance

· Develop and conduct periodic surveillance monitoring program. Identify improvement areas and put forward practical and compliant solutions.

· Undertake compliance investigations

· Participate in conducting self assessment reviews

· Review and approve external marketing materials

Regulatory

· Assist in handling regulatory enquires, surveys and questionnaires

· Assist in handling regulatory inspections

Other

· Develop a network of Compliance officers in peer institutions to benchmark against industry best practices

· Assist in providing timely reporting on Compliance issues to business and Compliance management, as appropriate

Skills

· Law degree or other closely-related professional qualifications preferred (e.g. CFA, CPA)

· 5-10 years investment market experience at HKMA, SFC or at a significant financial institution in Asia and preferably at least 5 years experience in private banking compliance

· Familiar with private banking and HKMA and SFC rules and regulations. Strong knowledge in cash equities products and exchange rules. Understanding of the Asia-Pac regions, US and the EU regulations would be an advantage

· Understanding of local laws and regulations with practical experience of interpreting AML and customer due diligence rules and guidelines.

· Strong command of spoken and written English. Fluent Cantonese and Mandarin proficiency would be an advantage.
