Job Responsibilities and Duties:
The Cloud Operations Technician supports the operations of the Dell Cloud including responding to global customer requests for service and for issue resolution. Position will also support internal requests for service. Position reports to Operations Support Manager. Other responsibilities are as follows:
- Monitors and maintains systems and resolves problems
- Analyzes software and hardware problems and coordinates workable solutions
- Ensures availability of systems and application environments through proactive as well as reactive maintenance
- Manages, resolves and documents issues and events related to system and environment availability
- Monitors and measures performance characteristics of systems (disk usage, CPU usage, etc.)
- Performs routine maintenance functions
- Communicates with all stakeholders (customers, development teams, end users, etc.) to address system issues
- Makes recommendations for systems enhancements
- Responsible for integrated and moderately complex systems
- Exercises judgment in situations which have undefined practices and policies
- Applies a comprehensive knowledge of application programming and design to analyze and isolate issues
- Follow-up with the Engineering, Level 2/3 support, partners and other I/T staff regarding the resolution or status of their request to drive closure. Escalating to Level 2/3 when resolution is unknown or gain knowledge
- Notify Partner and Business community during outage periods
- Participate in the planning and execution of system maintenance and DR events
- Participate in the update of support documentation
- Direct involvement in working with internal and external teams to consult, implement and troubleshoot configurations - hardware, software and services
- Research escalated incidents to determine root cause and ensure resolution
- Participate in the creation of knowledge base articles
- Assist in the Change Management process and deployment releases
- Respond to voice-mail and emails in a timely manner
- Applies knowledge to analyze and develop solutions to highly complex problems
Qualifications
Required Skills:
• Thorough understanding of key business drivers and ability to communicate and translate those needs to technical solutions
• Experienced understanding and application of client/server network
• Ability to effectively communicate business issues to the appropriate level.
• Able to work on-site multiple shifts in a 24 x 7 environment
• Experience with management tools and advanced of TCP/IP.
• Knowledge of VMWare toolset in storage/server environment.
• Knowledge of VMWare virtualization technologies (ESX Server) and management tools.
• Understand RAID Technology and Dell Blade chassis configurations and management.
• Experience in dealing with customer facing issue resolution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint skills
• Scripting skills to include batch and VBScript is a plus.
• Ability to acquire technical skills
• Ability to investigate problems and utilize problem solving techniques.
• Strong customer satisfaction focus and customer is priority
Desired Skills:
• Self-starter that possesses strong technical, trouble-shooting, interpersonal, communications and leadership skills.
