We are currently seeking an experienced Sales professional to join our Client Coverage organization in San Francisco as a Barra Portfolio Management Analytics (PMA) Sales Specialist covering Asset Managers.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
• PMA Sales Specialists are responsible for maintaining existing client relationships as well as new business development for all PMA products for Asset Managers in MSCI’s west coast territory. Each person travels within their respective sales territory to meet with clients and prospects regarding new products as well as enhancements to existing products.
• The role entails positioning and closing sales and renewals of Barra quantitative equity investment decision support tools such as multi-factor models, portfolio optimizers and risk and performance software analytics at our current clients and prospective clients. PMA Sales Specialists use their knowledge of the equity investment management process, modern portfolio theory, client/prospect organizations, and competitive solutions to identify and close PMA sales opportunities.
• This role is a highly visible one, with involvement in all aspects of an account including senior level relationship management, product demonstrations, contract negotiation, sales closing, product setup and delivery. In this role, individuals will work closely with MSCI’s Global Client Service, Client Consultant, Marketing, Product Management, and Finance departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Total relationship management involving:
• Strategic territory and account planning to identify and close sales opportunities
• Contact with senior-level management
• Achieve targeted revenue goals
• New and existing product placement
• Solicit and internally communicate client feedback regarding new product development and initiatives
• Answer detailed client inquiries about products and methodologies
• Attend and host relevant industry events
• Work with other departments (Client Service, Consulting, Legal, Finance, etc.) to ensure that all client requests / inquiries are managed appropriately
• Maintain accurate records regarding account visits, client conversations, finalized contracts, etc.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Superior communication and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects
• Proven sales closing and relationship management skills
• Deep understanding of modern portfolio theory and the equity investment process
• Strong analytic and quantitative skills
• Understanding of, and experience with, major global institutions including Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Pension Plans, and Consultants
• A self starter and highly motivated; ability to work individually and within a team
• Minimum of 3 years sales experience with a proven record of accomplishment. 5-10 years of experience in the financial services industry
• Someone who enjoys intellectual and analytical challenges
• Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, Masters Degree and/or CFA charter holder preferred
