Base Station Technician / BCI992

Position Description:

Nexlink Global Services is immediately seeking experienced Base Station Technicians to travel nationwide and perform work related to Ericsson EFI projects. Current needs are specifically for: Carolinas, Louisiana, Mississippi, KY/TN, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas and Fort Lauderdale.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Utilize state of the art electronic test equipment, measuring devices, meters and hand tools in analyzing, adjusting, installing, wiring, repairing, maintaining and testing wireless, transmission, and associated equipment.
• Perform required incidental and preventative maintenance on cell site, power equipment, transmission, and associated equipment, and completes necessary logs, reports and postings.
• Conduct collection and presentation of field data of wireless market as required.
• Adhere to safety practices and procedures.
• Candidate will be required to perform a range of activities, including moving heavy equipment into position (cabinets may weigh up to 1200 lbs.) and mark/drill holes in steel or concrete foundation (hammer drills, Mag-drills).
• Installation of RF/ground/power/telecommunications cabling.
• Assembling electronic equipment in racks/cabinets, plumbing all RF, wiring all power, punch down of a cat 5/5E/6 cables as appropriate (IAW OEM instructions)
• Interfacing with control devices via laptop
• Tasks may be in support of BTS installation, switch equipment, MW equipment, etc.
• Documentation of all activities must be 100% reliable and accurate
• Completion of client and company checklists, photos, and test results typically communicated to management electronically (emails, uploads to FTP, Web Interface, etc.)
• Conduct site visits to ensure construction vendors are closely following the strict construction standards for new site builds and other Quality Assurance Services
• Ability to use a compass
• Familiar with telecommunications construction standards
• Provide field support for new cell construction in the following areas: site supervision, equipment delivery coordination, path alignment coordination, equipment installation, cell turn up and cell optimization
• Provide technical support with pathing and maintaining backhaul network
• Install, cable and program new equipment at site locations by maintaining proper cable management and loading configuration files into power management system, servers and other devices loaded into the cabinet
• Determining the cause of equipment failure using various types of complex test equipment
• Commission new sites into the network by working with remote team to test functionality and alarms
• Test drive new sites and test for handovers, signal strength and basic functionality
• Receive, investigate, resolve and track trouble tickets
• Assist with resolving customer related issues and visit location to ensure 100% satisfaction
• Maintain network documentation with a very high level of accuracy
• Responding to all Network Operations Center (NOC) call outs within a specified area and contacting appropriate field staff to resolve system problems
• Completing work that is assigned while on 24-hour “on call” duty to resolve any cell-related or customer issues

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of field technician experience
• Strong PC and IP trouble shooting skills
• Must possess a minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on wireless microwave experience
• Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC / FAA / EPA / OSHA regulations.
• Must pass pre-employment testing (motor vehicle, drug and background check)
• Must possess a valid driver's license
