BASEL II – Credit Risk Basel II Team Leader/Project Manager recruitment
Suncorp Bank is seeking to enhance its risk and capital management capabilities to meet Basel II advanced standards as provided by the Basel II accord and the regulatory standards prescribed by APRA. The use of advanced approaches including economic capital principles will enable superior strategic and operational decision-making across all aspects of the bank's businesses.
A major program of work has been established to design, build and implement these enhancements, and comprises workstreams for Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Market Risk and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book, Economic Capital, Data and Reporting, as well as a program management office. As part of this program we are currently recruiting for a Basel II Credit Risk Team Leader/Project Manager.
Reporting to the Chief Credit Officer, Banking Credit, the key purpose of this role is:
- To plan, direct and lead the development and implementation of Basel II Advanced initiatives for Credit Risk, a major workstream of the Basel II advanced program, to comply with the IRB requirements of APS 113.
- The credit risk initiatives comprise significant revisions/enhancements to existing and new credit risk frameworks of policies, procedures, governance, risk and capital models, data and processes. Key other components are the embedding of improved analytic and reporting capabilities, and education.
In this pivotal role your key accountabilities will be to:
- Lead all aspects of the Credit Risk program of work to achieve Basel II Advanced accreditation.
- Lead the team identifying and analysing the gaps to APS113 requirements
- Provide oversight and solutions for the resolution of the gaps identified
- Utilise industry expertise and contacts to identify innovative solutions to issues encountered in data, modelling or other analysis.
- Work collaboratively with the Banking Credit team to understand existing models and practices and enhance them to deliver Basel II outcomes whilst being practical and effective risk management tools that are simple to understand and use.
To be considered for this role, you will have possess the following:
- Relevant University Degree (desirable)
- Membership of related professional bodies is desirable (such as Australian Institute of Project Managers, Australian Human Resources Institute, Australian Institute of Management, etc.)
In addition you will have the following skills and knowledge:
- A high level of project managerial skill in a medium to large organisation with a proven record of change management, innovation, achievement, autonomous action and strong leadership.
- Practical application of the principles of good project management; preferably in the financial sector
- Thorough working knowledge of the Basel II Accord and APS 113 from a Credit Risk perspective
- Experience in Basel II gap analysis and closing gaps to achieve accreditation for Credit Risk across all portfolios ? specific focus on SME Corporate and Retail methodologies would be an advantage
- Proven ability in the use of project tools such as MS Project from a tracking and management perspective
- Working knowledge of project and system development methodologies
