BEHAVIORAL HEALTH LICENCED THERAPIST

General Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Behavioral Health Program Supervisor or the Director of Behavioral Health Programs, and using a wide variety of counseling modalities, Behavioral Health Professionals exercise sound judgment in the treatment of children, youth, families, individuals and groups. The professional is expected to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while making appropriate independent decisions for the benefit of the client(s). The clinician works in a culturally sensitive manner and abides by the legal and ethical standards of the profession.

Specific Activities

Assess and treat individuals with mental, emotional, substance abuse problems and special education needs. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, client advocacy, observations, prevention, and education.

  • Conducts Behavioral Health Assessments with an emphasis on educationally related impairments.
  • Develops and implements Treatment Plans.
  • Provides Case conferencing in coordination with other mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, IEP coordinators, schools, etc.
  • Provides in classroom behavioral interventions and techniques to support the special education population to educational staff.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team with student and key supportive members.
  • Provides crisis management consultation and education.
  • Supports physical and emotional health to ensure home, school and community success
  • Works within the school setting helping students with school adjustment problems such as academic problems, vocational choices, and emotional and social development. Monitoring and encouraging behavioral change.
  • Meet minimal productivity and caseload standards dictated by the contract
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to develop appropriate intervention and support the delivery of behavioral health, IEP and support services.
  • Participates in the Utilization Management/Group Supervision weekly meetings.
  • Participates in individual weekly supervision.
  • Participation in quality assurance review boards and complete necessary compliance issues.
  • Provide individual, family and group counseling to assist student school success.
  • Conducts outreach services.
  • Maintain Administrative duties, including contract compliance.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with school personnel.
  • Comply with all documentation requirements dictated by contract.
  • Provides all services in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Attend required Continuing Education and Contract Requirements.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

    MA degree in social work, counseling, or psychology. Required state-licensed LCSW, LMFT, and Masters-level training in child abuse and all other protective issues. Training in and mastery of family systems theory and application of diagnostic criteria from the DSM-IV and Evidence Based Practices.

    Must possess the ability to make sound clinical decisions independently. Must be able to apply clinical judgment, ethics and accountability to formulate and implement treatment plans and other clinical documentation. Demonstrates the ability to handle stressful and crisis situations tactfully and appropriately. Strictly adheres to the principles and practices of the counseling profession as elucidated by modalities, and to exercise discretion and independent judgment in all areas of job performance including adherence to appropriate professional boundaries. Demonstrates strong leadership qualities, including but not limited to conflict management skills and inter and intra-agency collaborative skills. Must possess experience working with the school system, familiar with rules and regulations of Individual Educational Plans and school culture. Must also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual preferred. Some off-site and school base counseling will require own transportation. EOE

    Compensation

    FT – Exempt position $24.31- $26.74//hr (DOE) + bilingual pay. Full paid benefits according to the personnel policy. EOE
