BEHAVIORAL HEALTH STUDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
General Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor, provides school based prevention, education and intervention support services to students in Special Education. Participates in multi-disciplinary team with students and key supportive members. Supports physical and emotional health to ensure home and school success, while providing additional student and family support resources and direct community connections within the least restrictive environment.
Specific Activities
Provides case management for students and families, to include interviewing, assessment, solution seeking, goal setting, referral and advocacy, life skills training, and family building, in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner to address issues that interfere in their child’s school success.

Requirements
Compatible with the agency purpose to build partnerships in North County and deliver services to children, families and individuals, that resolve problems, increase skills and nurture self-reliance to improve school success
. Provide services within the boundaries of their professional training and within the limits and rules of their contract. Possess a good understanding of human development, mental health, and Special Education. Knowledge of child and family development, parenting and community resources. Strong skills in interviewing, rapport building, assessment, goal setting, and motivating youth and families. Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with other program and agency staff. Ability to focus on multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Must have minimum experience of 2 year as a Case Manager and a BA in Social Work or equivalent field.
Compensation
FT – Exempt position $16.00/hr + bilingual pay. Full paid benefits according to the personnel policy. EOE
