Bendix King, a strategic business unit of Honeywell Aerospace, and a global leader in aviation serving General Aviation (GA) community, is seeking a highly motivated and well qualified engineering leader to oversee development of Bendix King Navigation and Communication (NAV/COM) Radios and related products for General Aviation (GA) aircraft. The position will have primary engineering oversight and work closely with Bendix King senior leadership, sales, marketing, and our customers to ensure these Bendix King products and deliver leading edge performance and technology while meeting the high expectations our customers. The key responsibilities of the position are as follows:
- Provide overall technical and project leadership for Systems, Software, and Hardware Engineers performing product development on all NAV/COMM related products.
- Provide ongoing engineering support for existing (legacy) NAV/COM related products.
- Ensure execution to project certification, including any function-specific quality and certification requirements.
- Provide expertise for associated technologies, and be recognized as a project and industry leader in NAV/COM radio systems.
- Manage and mentor engineers to improve the overall knowledge base and improve project execution.
- Review market requirements and ensure engineering alignment for new product development.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- 7 + years of relevant related design, integration, and certification experience in the NAV/COM field of expertise with
- 15+ years engineering experience
- 4 years project management background with demonstrated experience in leading product development programs
Additional Qualifications:
- Broad knowledge of avionics systems and interfaces, including General Aviation systems or domain expertise
- Ability to drive consistent and efficient Engineering processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively to direct reports, executive leadership, and customers, both on a project as well as a detailed technical level
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, teaming, customer interaction, and team leadership abilities.
- Ability to lead cross-functional engineers (systems, software, and hardware) to ensure project success.
- Ability to lead distributed teams and subcontract teams.
- Ability to drive new concepts, standards and processes across functional areas.
- Demonstrated ability to generate requirements from customer specifications.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of applying certification requirements to a NAV/COM and airplane certification program.
- Experience with direct application of avionics systems, software, and hardware development processes and standards, including ARP4754, DO-160D, DO-254, and DO-178B.
- Ability to manage challenging cost and schedule targets as well as perform complex technical tasks.
- Possession of a private pilot's license is highly desirable.
