Benefit Cosmetics has identified digital as a key priority for improving brand awareness, customer loyalty, and for customer insights. We are rapidly growing our digital programs around the world. Benefit has recently been recognized as an innovator in digital by several industry sources, including the L2 Luxury Labs Thinktank Beauty IQ rankings, and recently won a Shorty award for use of Facebook Twitter.

 

We are currently seeking a Digital Marketing Director based in San Francisco. The US Digital Marketing Director will plan, oversee and execute digital strategies in support of Benefit’s goals in the US, our largest market. This individual will oversee content, community, and advertising programs focused on expanding Benefit’s reach via digital media with a well-rounded mix of activities designed to improve our awareness, relevancy, clarity of communications in the digital space, and customer engagement. The US Digital Marketing Director will be the US leader in charge of digital, working closely with our marketing and PR teams, retail channels, the US Ecommerce Director, and the global VP Digital in order to drive success in this critical initiative.

 

Essential duties and requirements:

 

·         Digital Program Planning Management

o    Plan oversee innovative digital programs designed to drive brand awareness, loyalty, and communications.

o    Collaborate with marketing and the US Ecommerce Director to plan, oversee, and execute the US Digital Marketing Calendar, which includes all digital activities programs.

o    Market our online and offline events sales channels with digital activities that are a strong pillar in 360 degree campaigns.

o    Communicate Benefit’s voice and unique brand position through digital, increasing the relevancy and clarity of our online communications.

o    Identify partners plan co-promotional activities for digital to help improve Benefit’s reach.

·         Team Management

o    Manage and develop one Community Manager /Digital Producer.

o     Collaborate with the global digital team and US ecommerce team on design production of a wide range of digital assets.

o    Educate mentor colleagues in many other departments on how digital can help enhance their communications services.

 

·         Messaging Content

o    Identify opportunities to serve Benefit fans and customers with new beauty and brand-building content.

o    Brainstorm concept how key brand marketing messages will be best supported online.

o    Extend and adapt the Benefit voice in the digital medium. Write copy as needed for digital medium. Oversee and proof all digital copy to ensure quality.

·         Social Influence Marketing

o    Lead Benefit’s social media strategy programs for the US.

o    Evolve Benefit’s US social media presence through our blog, facebook, twitter, youtube, and new channels as they emerge.

o    Watch the evolution of new social media vehicles to set our strategy for experimentation growth in the US.

o    Explore opportunities to market through Benefit fans and advocate and make recommendations around social marketing programs, platforms, and campaigns.

o    Actively build relationships with customers and fans through social media. Advocate for strong social-based customer service, and echo the voice of the customer back to Benefit US.

o    Benchmark the effectiveness of our social media practices in order to drive continuous improvement.

o    Review social media scorecard monthly as an input to evolving and optimizing our social programs.

·         Digital Advocacy

o    Collaborate with and advise other Benefit channels on the effective use of digital mediums:

§  Meet with boutiques, marketing and pr teams, as well as Brow Bars to recommend the use of digital programs to enhance Benefit’s business across the US.

§  Partner with our retail channels to ensure that there is a solid digital component to everything we do, both online and in-store.  

·         Advertising Management

o    Evaluate the best spends for Benefit’s digital advertising program given our objectives.

o    Oversee vendor selection, creative and messaging, trafficking, and performance analysis and optimization for Benefit’s digital ad spend.

·         Measurement Metrics

o    Proactively analyze the performance of campaigns, messaging, and various digital media, as well as customer data, in order to drive smart and successful digital campaigns and continually optimize content, drive new sales, and improve brand awareness.

·         Other duties as assigned
