Benefits Accounting Manager Job ID: 2012-16546 # of Positions: 1 Internal Title: Benefits Accounting Manager Position Type: Regular Full Time Category: Accounting Location: US-IL-Lisle Travel: None Overview: Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Work with actuaries to oversee the computation of the Company s pension and OPEB liabilities and expense * Coordinate flow of information from the company to external actuaries * Coordinate the development of forecasts for pension and retiree health care liabilities and expense. * Prepare annual and quarterly disclosures for SEC reporting * Understand and explain variations from forecasts and the impact of changes in key assumptions to both management and external auditors * Determine and communicate employee benefit allocations to the manufacturing plants and segment for setting standard costs and operating plan development * Prepare documentation for and work with external auditors * Perform special analysis as required to determine impact changes and employment strategies on benefit plans (curtailment, settlement etc ). * Model financial results for future period using a variety of assumptions * Work with actuaries in the computation of the Company s required long-term disability and workers compensation liabilities * Integrate financial results with Treasury funding decisions * Support Treasury reporting to the Pension Funding Investment Committee * Develop the support for the various valuation assumptions * Support investor relations communications. Position Purpose and Requirements: Assumes responsibility for accounting for the company s post retirement benefits for active and retired employees. This role is responsible for accounting and reporting for active results and interim forecasts and annual plans. This position requires knowledge of accounting pronouncements governing the accounting for pension and post retirement health care benefits including ASC 715. Basic Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree and CPA OR Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting * At least 5 years in an accounting or finance role Additional Requirements: * 10% travel Desired Skills: * Big 4 Accounting experience * Positive Attitude, Ethics and International Values which support our company s values, and a healthy, high performance culture * MBA or Master s in Accounting * Knowledge of ASC 715-Compensation Retirement Benefits * Technical Accounting/Accounting research experience * External Reporting experience * Understanding or modeling of complex transactions/contracts * Experience with PeopleSoft and/or HFM Competencies: * Positive Attitude * Ethics and Navistar's Values * Functional/Technical Skills * Problem Solving Visit us at www.Navistar.com to discover more about our organization.
