Bid Manager - Defence Sector Engineering
Job Description
Our client is a leading defence contractor and is seeking a Bid Manager to convert pipeline opportunities into winning bids/order closure to meet the Business Strategy and in line with corporate governance practices. Applicants must have Bid management experience within engineering projects, ideally defence related.
Responsibilities
The key accountabilities of the job holder will be as follows: •Produce compliant bids that support the business meeting its business strategy •Create and maintain a risk register for every bid in line with Company processes; understand competitor tactics and behaviour to shape the proposal and mitigate risks •Develop the technical, commercial and financial solution as the bid progresses
•Work closely with Business Development to ensure a thorough understanding of the solution and customer needs •Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to ensure they understand the opportunities, agree with the technical solution and can deliver the commitments being made in the bid•Ensure bids adhere to customer schedule and target cost •Oversee production of the proposal documentation in accordance with best practice and business governance processes •Manage customer relationship until confirmation of preferred bidder and handover to the transition team
Qualifications Requirements
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience •Degree level or equivalent experience •Project Management experience •Previous experience of MoD bid process and procedures •Sound understanding of Partnering and Alliancing between Government/Agencies/Private industry •Knowledge of dealing with Government customers Skills Competencies •Project management experience on bids and proposals
