Bilingual Safety Manager with HR Experience Job in San Pedro, California US
Job Overview:
Provide professional and technical assistance to plant site operations and ensure procedures, practices and programs are consistent with established Corporate, local, state and Federal regulations. Implement, monitor and maintain safety, health and human resource programs and facilitate corrective measures as necessary. Provide guidance to management on employee relations issues, training, safety, investigations, worker's compensation, recruitment and hiring, orientation, and benefits and policy questions in a non-union environment. Perform other job duties as required. Must have previous Human Resources experience and possess knowledge of employment practices. This is an extremely fast paced environment.
Requirements:
Associate's Degree, PHR and a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Bilingual- Ability to read, comprehend, and compose instructions, correspondence, and memos in English and Spanish. Requires 2-3 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety in the food industry and 2-4 years of experience in a human resources plant environment. Position may be required to travel to attend seminars and conferences to keep up to date on issues, trends and required compliance to laws.
Essential Duties:
- Acts as the corporate human resource representative in the plant.
- Responds to employee requests and issues associated with employee relations.
- Conduct and document orientation for all new-hires, which includes safety training.
- Conduct human resource training and facility safety meetings.
- Investigate and document all work-related accidents.
- Report worker's compensation claims and work in collaboration with Risk Management.
- Manage and track all reported claims and OSHA reporting.
- Communicated year-to-date and year-over-year progress in claims activity to general manager.
- Supervise plant compliance requirements associated with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, FDA, SSOP.
- Coordinate safety, sanitation, human resource awareness programs under the direction and guidance of corporate human resources and plant management.
- Collects, analyzes, and maintains data essential for effective safety and human resources programs.
- Participate in state and federal training associated with OSHA, HACCP, DOL.
- Maintains confidentiality of all aspects of work functions and employee associations.
- May be required to perform ad projects as assigned by management.
