Billing Specialist Job in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania US
This position is responsible for client billing and client account maintenance. Essential Functions
- Monthly client billing for assigned attorneys, including invoice modification, as necessary.
- Prepare, proof and modify invoices accordingly and send to client.
- Maintain billing addresses, UDF fields, client/matter rates and cost exceptions.
- Prepare unbilled time reports for assigned attorneys.
- Assist attorneys and secretaries with client inquires.
- Prepare electronic billing set up as necessary, including communicating with assigned attorneys and secretaries through completion of the monthly billing cycle.
- Edit time and cost entries appearing on the Proformas (DBRs) as instructed.
- Research detail of client related expense items in order to provide supporting documentation on the bills.
- Special projects as assigned by attorneys and/or manager.
Requirements
Education:
Associate's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Prior experience with billing or other accounting function preferred. Experience with Elite or other accounting/billing system preferred. Experience in a law firm or other professional service environment a plus. Mathematical aptitude and ability to organize/prioritize multiple assignments, work independently on various projects, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of MS Excel and Elite accounting software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Possess a customer focus and have a track record of providing the highest level of customer service. Able to organize and prioritize issues and workload.

Equipment to be Used:
Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax machine, copier, scanner, etc.
Typical Physical Demands:
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Also requires ability to spend long hours on the telephone and on a personal computer.
Typical Mental Demands:
Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment. Multiple priorities/tasks. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels. Meeting weekly deadlines along with being able to handle large number of client and attorney requests on a daily basis.
Working Conditions:
Shift is 11am - 8pm. Works in a typical office setting. Occasionally called upon to work overtime.
