Biofuels HSSE Field Specialist
The HSSE Field Specialist will ensure compliance with the overall HSSE policies and practices within all agricultural field activities in relation to the operations of the 20k+ acre farm, and assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts across all agriculture processes to incorporate both improvements in efficiency and improvements in HSSE metrics. Additionally they will work closely with the various members of the project team to provide support during the construction phases of the farm build portion of the project.
The HSSE Field Specialist, is a part of the agricultural operations team for BP Biofuels' Highlands project. The HSSE Field Technician is an integral member of the overall operations team for agricultural field operational activities. This role involves applying detailed knowledge of HSSE and regulatory processes and standards relevant to farm operations, as well as requiring a thorough understanding of the hazards and controls associated with agricultural and construction operations.

* Help develop and encourage the farm culture that ensures "No Accidents, No Harm to People, and No Harm to the Environment".
* Provide HSSE training and awareness on a variety of topics to new/transfer employees and others to meet compliance needs.
* Serve as a resource that leads, coaches and supports team members on sustaining a Safety Leadership Culture.
* Ensure all agricultural HSSE philosophies, policies, and procedures are understood and adhered to in the field to help ensure delivery of the expected HSSE performance.
* Identify and ensure accurate and timely compliance to all activities with applicable legal requirements related to HSSE including regulatory compliance, and HSSE policy reporting requirements.
* Effectively integrate HSSE specifications and requirements into all agricultural activities. This includes elements of standard operating procedures, machinery use and specifications, and chemical/fuel storage and handling systems.
* Provide line management support through implementing HSSE programs and standards, and monitoring compliance with policies, expectations and local legislation.
* Conduct regular inspections, and ensure proper use and maintenance of HSSE tools and equipment.
* Provide assurance to the Ag Ops HSSE Manager, that HSSE programs, policies, and expectations are effectively implemented and adhered to within the operating functions of the farm.
* Assists with agricultural operations permitting requirements including daily, task specific and regulatory permits.
* Assist in identifying, developing and conducting HSSE training and awareness programs on a variety of topics.
* Support line management in near-miss and incident reporting, ensuring accurate and timely incident notification, and engage the peer leaders on gap identification and closure.
* Ensure incident Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations are conducted, and hazards are identified, addressed and reported in a timely manner.
* Assist with customer tours by ensuring all site tours are briefed on HSSE requirements and provided necessary PPE.
* Ensures adequate Emergency Response Strategies and Plans are understood, and support response.
* Update HSSE postings and communications per regulatory requirements and site needs.
* Ensure high-quality road traffic safety both on and off the farm site.
* Bachelor's degree in Safety, Applied Science or other related discipline.
* Formal HSSE certification (ASP, CSP, etc.) is desirable.

* Ability to work successfully as part of a team.
* Minimum of five years in a full time HSSE role in the Agriculture Industry
* Experience on projects with an agricultural (farm) component or other large tract land requirements.
* Knowledge and application experience of OSHA standards, engineering standards, safety audits, and incident investigations.
* Experience in accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence others without a direct reporting relationship.
* Ability to provide direction to and coach others on Safety issues and opportunities.
