Description
 
The Biomedical Engineer plans, trains others, and installs, maintains and repairs sophisticated medical equipment and systems utilized in the diagnosis treatment and monitoring of patients.
 
Essential Functions:
• Working under the supervision of a manager or designee, perform all phases of routine and corrective service of biomedical equipment.
• Perform pre-issue and asset accounting, equipment installation and de-installation of related equipment as needed.
• Must work collaboratively with OEM representatives, other biomedical engineer specialties to include but not limited to imaging (x-ray, CT, MR, U/S,N/M), KPIT, Systems Integration (computers), instrumentation, laboratory, processor and laser to complete the work.
• Individual is required to complete applicable documentation of all work performed, in a timely basis.
• Frequent travel will be required to customer sites to perform service, attend technical training, and may include assistance in equipment service in other Kaiser Permanente Regions.
• After hours work is required on a scheduled and nonscheduled basis to complete required work.
• Will be assigned to weekday and weekend on-call schedule to perform emergency service.
• Communication devices will be supplied and will need to be kept ON during duty hours.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Basic Qualifications:
• Must have formal and on the job training for service/support of complex laboratory instrumentation.
• Associates degree or equivalent in electronics, physics or related science.
• Must have good driving record and maintain valid unrestricted California class C or better driver's license.
• Must be willing to work extended hours.
• Must be proficient operating PC's with Windows operating systems.
• Must have working knowledge of and various types of general instrumentation, Lab and RT equipment.
