BIOMEDICAL SCIENTISTS - MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO HELP RESEARCH THIS IMPORTANT RESOURCE BASE

Biomedical Scientists (NHS equivalent band 5 level) required

UK Biobank, the most important and largest ever cohort research data and sample collection ever amassed in the UK, was devised to determine the causes of diabetes, cancer and heart disease and therefore to determine how to improve the health of future generations.The samples of a large cross section of the UK society (over 500,000 people) were taken and are stored at the UK Biobank ultra low temperature storage facility in Stockport, greater Manchester. The Biomarker scientists are required to join a dedicated team undertaking a large scale biomarker project, analysing all the samples of blood, serum, urine etc., which will take at least 18 months.

Hays Healthcare have 4 Biomedical Scientist positions on behalf of UK Biobank, the successful candidates will have experience of working in a clinical/ biochemistry pathology environment. The scientists should have all round experience in these environments with use of haematology/coagulation analysers an additional advantage. There are a number of other higher level scientists also required on the team and the candidates will be working with a medium size group of scientists when all recruited. The scientists will be expected to participate in the 24/7 shift working pattern. The Biomedical scientists will need to demonstrate current  HCPC registration and hold an honours degree recognised by the institute of Biomedical Science.
