Biometric ID Scientist

 

Responsibilities:

·         Provide technical subject matter expertise in development of biometric identification technologies – potential topic areas to include chemical, spectroscopic, and physical trait sensors; biometric modalities; behavioral analysis; and stand-off, physical contact, cooperative, and uncooperative approaches; sensor/algorithm interfaces

·         Make strategic recommendations regarding development of next-generation DoD biometric ID systems

·         Provide technical review/analysis of proposed biometric ID systems to assist in Government source selection decisions

·         Support systems programs involving biometric ID components

·         Provide a top-level “feasibility/sanity check” on Performer concepts, designs, plans, and results

·         Prepare and review test plans, support field test activities, and provide post-test data review and recommendations for next steps

·         Communicate scientific concepts to various audiences via reports and graphical presentations

·         ​Provide technical and scientific direction and guidance for research, development, and implementation of new and leading edge technology solutions for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) or Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA)

 

Required/Desired Skills:

·         Experience in analysis of biometric modalities, development of sensor technologies for biometric identification, implementation of biometrics into system design

·         Experience with chemical and spectroscopic approaches, stand-off sensors, and sensor/algorithm interfaces a plus

·         Excellent technical writing and graphical presentation preparation skills

·         Experience with management of complex systems programs

·         Familiarity with physical and statistical modeling an advantage

·         DOD/DARPA/IARPA support experience is an advantage

·         Minimum of 8 years field related experience

·         Bachelor Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Forensics, Spectroscopy, Psychology, or related field, Master or Ph.D. Degree preferred (broad field related experience more important than advanced degree)

·         Active Top Secret Security clearance preferred with SCI eligibility
