Job Focus The qualified candidate will be responsible for implementing a variety of biophysical analyses to characterize a broad range of biotherapeutics and to support process and analytical development for early and late stage products. He or she is expected to timely deliver results to project teams in a fast-paced environment of product development. A basic understanding of structure, hydrodynamic properties and thermodynamic behaviors of proteins is required to help interpret the experimental results and to expedite mastering new techniques. Excellent communication and writing skills are critical for the person to present fairly complex results to a general audience. The candidate is expected to be able to interact and work with other functional areas including bioprocess development, analytical method development and formulation screening. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: MS degree in biochemistry, physical chemistry, pharmaceutical science or related field Knowledge in thermodynamic modeling, chemical kinetics, statistical analysis and polymer science. WORK EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: 0-5 years of industrial experience in drug discovery and development for biological therapeutics using spectroscopic methods, including circular dichroism, fluorescence and light scattering spectroscopy to characterize higher order structure and molecular sizes. Experience of characterizing proteins and other biopolymers using liquid chromatography, field flow fractionation, calorimetry, etc. Experience of using mass spectrometry is a plus.
