We are currently seeking a Scientific Statistician with cancer experience to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD. Rockville is in the Washington DC metro area. The contractor shall: 1. Apply expertise in statistical methods for design and analysis of biomarker and cancer studies to problems of interest to the DCTD. 2. Develop methods for analyzing a variety of lab assay data including data from DNA, RNA, or protein-based assays either producing single analytic measurements or complex high-dimensional output, for example as obtained by microarray technologies. 3. Apply expertise in the analysis of biomarker assay data for its association with clinical-pathologic variables and clinical outcome data to evaluate the clinical validity and utility of those assays. 4. Evaluate existing evidence for biomarker assay analytical and clinical validity. 5. Evaluate proposed designs for studies aiming to assess assay performance and clinical validity. 6. Provide advice on future directions for studies of cancer diagnostics, including recommendations for assay quantification methods, statistical analysis approaches, and novel clinical trial designs. 7. Document methodological approaches to data analyses performed, including detailed procedures and rationale. 8. Provide advice and assistance to NCI/NIH funded researchers, NCI/NIH staff and other researchers in the federal and private sector. 9. Provide advice, support, and assistance in developing workshops and funding announcements to help determine the future directions of research. 10. Collaborate with researchers both within and outside NCI on cancer biomarker and diagnostic assay studies of interest to the NCI. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 1. PhD in Biostatistics preferred plus 3 years with specific knowledge of methods for analysis of survival data, multivariable regression analysis, categorical data analysis, and probability. 2. MS with 6 years will be considered. 3. Expertise with Matlab, SAS, SPSS. Knowledge of mathematical and statistical theory and its application to many scientific fields. 4. Experience in providing statistical support through the collection, computation, and analysis of biomedical data using established methods. 5. Experience in evaluation of statistical methods for the analysis of clinical and biomarker data. 6. Experience in developing new statistical methods for application to specific problems. 7. Experience with statistical research studies in the area of basic mathematical and statistical theory and analytical, computational and graphical methods. 8.
