We currently have an exciting direct placement opportunity for a Biostatistician. The position will be based in either Princeton, NJ or Los Angeles, CA. The Biostatistician will be responsible for the following: Designs, develops, documents, tests and implements methods and pipelines for processing and analyzing large-scale omics and related data in support of both internal and collaborative therapeutic, mechanistic, biomarker and other clinical programs. Works with Science Directors during study definition, ensuring experimental design provides statistical power required to confirm/refute/refine working scientific hypotheses. Delivers sophisticated statistical analyses based upon multivariate data sets and provides accurate and appropriate interpretation of data. Works collaboratively with Bioinformatics Research Analyst to place statistical analyses within biological context. Trains other researchers on novel methods to enhance the company's analytical capabilities. Develops novel normalization, classification and analytical algorithms as necessary. Participates in complex omics, pathway and systems biology data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing investigator requests. Key responsibilities include: Experimental design and subsequent data analysis of internal and collaborative studies that utilize various platform technologies e.g. microarray, proteomics, metabolomic, RNASeq, etc. to generate large-scale omics datasets. Integrative analysis of omics data in the context of pathway, network and other systems biology data. Utilizing best-practice methodologies to analyze omics and system biology data. Develop new analytical methods, as necessary. Represent Systems Biology on internal and collaborative matrix teams. Coordinate bio-analytical and biostatistical efforts with partners, vendors and academics, and oversees biostatistical components of research and development agreements across the foundation. Qualifications: Ph.D. in statistics, bioinformatics or the computational sciences. 5 - 10 years experience using statistical techniques to analyze large-scale biological data. Track record of delivering value through omics data analysis. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, global team-oriented environment internally and externally with both academic and industrial organizations. Ability to work independently to reach organization's goals. Expertise with public and proprietary analysis tools for processing, normalizing and analyzing large-scale omics datasets. Demonstrated expertise in R, BioConductor or equivalent, as applied to large-scale, high-dimensional datasets. Experience in both procedural i.e. Perl and declarative i.e. SQL programming languages. Proficiency in Unix/Linux. Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Candidate will need to be highly organized with good time management skills to support multiple concurrent projects, with an ability to work well within a team. Additional Skills Experience with the analysis of clinical data. Experience with the integration of pre-clinical and clinical data in a research environment. Experience with neurodegenerative disease models. Experience with methods and procedures of Systems Biology.
