We urgently require an experienced BMS Design Engineer to assist the Major Projects Division in the expert execution of large complex projects.

 

BMS Design Engineer

Broken down into: Hardware Design / Software (Application) Design

 

Where: Reporting to Slough Office and working within the UK being office/site based depending on project requirements.  This will be Stevenage/Ware.

 

Knowledge: HVAC  BMS controls, electrical design principles, computer hardware software experienced. 

 

Job Dimensions:

Ability to work alone and when necessary within a larger design team.

A proactive approach to ongoing learning is preferred, this will be supplemented by formal and on the job training. 

Weekend working may occasionally be required due to the needs of the business.

Create a compliant building management /controls system design in its entirety.

 

Work from:

Produce a BMS system from the following starting information;

Sales Documentation; including proposal with quotations/specifications/schedules for panels/power/points/controllers. Bring to PM's attention any major cost impact 'special' or hardware/software requirements which have not been costed properly in salesman's proposal

 

Using:

Current standard engineering software application tools to develop design, access intranet and engineering/product e-rooms for technical general information. Proficient use of Microsoft office suite, AutoCAD, visio .

 

Working with:

Salesman - continued liaison at start of project to ensure proper understanding of original design intention. Also includes selection and sizing valves for control.

Panel Designer - Through preliminary discussions, ascertain design fundamentals understood and programme time schedule is all achievable. Then continued design interaction through 'preliminary', then 'approved' 'for construction' and 'as manufactured' design drawings of each panel, ensuring design meets with specification or any variance is agreed with consultant

Project Manager - Build relationship so that all information is shared as required. PM kept informed of any cost implications of design decisions; ordering requirements/changes; delivery/progress problems; information to be supplied/shared for - schedule of variation orders (VOs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Technical Information Submittals (TSs) and any problems therein (outstanding approvals etc)

Commissioning Engineers - On-site support for design changes, controller software problems database issues, complex system witness/demonstrations. 

 

Producing:

               

Installation/Commission Check-Off Sheets/Tick-Sheets. Compile Commissioning Engineers pack including Panel wiring diagrams, check-sheets, descriptions of operation, power schedules/ VSD details, other hardware data sheets,hardware designs,controller software, metasys databases.

Operational maintenance documentation.
