I'm currently looking for a Business Intelligence Support and Operations Lead. This role has the potential for career advancement and for you to grow your own support team over time.
The Business Intelligence (BI) team develop and support a 2 Terabyte Data Warehouse and the associated Business Intelligence Systems, Tools and Reports.
Business model and transactional data are sourced from all the major business and operational support systems such as the BGAN BSS, ESAS, RUBS, BATAM, SAP and OAMS.
The BI team plays a key role in providing the business and its partners with up to date, accurate and meaningful information to support business decisions, review business performance and monitor operations.
The Data Warehouse and BI toolkit are based on the following technologies:
ORACLE RDBMS: All Databases
ORACLE PL/SQL: ETL data processing
Business Objects Data Integrator: ETL data processing
Oracle WHS Builder: ETL data processing
Hyperion: BI Toolkit
ORACLE OBIEE+: BI Toolkit
Sybase Power Designer Data Modelling
APEX: Data entryFront end development
Primary Purpose of the position:
Reporting to the Business Intelligence, Lead Developer within the Intelligence Systems Development group the primary focus will be to lead the operations and support of the core Data Warehouse including the Data Models, ETL, BI tools and systems.
The candidate will have responsibility for managing the operations of the BI environment within strict SLAs and ensure an excellent level of customer service is provided. This will be achieved using a mix of in-house, 'off-shore' and 3rd Party resources.
As a small and flexible team the candidate is expected to provide development expertise to meeting the demands of the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Developing and driving the BI operations and support strategy
• Developing and controlling IT policies, standards, processes and procedures.
• Work with the Business Intelligence team members to develop, maintain and manage Oracle database and BI systems while insuring high levels of data integrity and availability
• Consistently hit system SLAs
• Develop new SLAs for continuous improvement of system quality and availability.
• Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the system, its components and configuration.
• Maintain an understanding of my clients business in order to fully understand business requirements and ensure the system is managed in a way that compliments the business strategy.
• Work with BI developers to ensure new development is handed over and maintained successfully
• Best Integrate 3rd parties and 'off shore' resource to provide operations and support
• Work with the Business Intelligence team to meet corporate, team and personal objectives as defined by management
• Provide regular feedback to ICT Management and Customers on progress of projects and system status.
Essential knowledge and experience:
• Solid experience in a system operations/support/development role, including previous project or team management
• Previous experience of:
• Data Warehouse development,
• Oracle RDBMS PL/SQL.
• Business Objects Data Integrator ( BODI ), Business Objects Data Services (BODS)
• Hyperion and/or Oracle OBI EE+.
• Data modelling.
• Any major ETL toolkit.
• Previous work experience within the mobile/telecommunications industry
• Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills a necessity.
Key though technically is PL/SQL and good BODI experience.
